Mixed-Use Corridors Urban Design Guidelines
Consultation has concluded
On December 11, 2023, City Council adopted the Mixed-Use Corridors Urban Design Guidelines.
Urban design guidelines are a series of design statements and images that explain the City’s desired design elements and qualities that shape development and the public realm (e.g., public streets and parks).
The new Official Plan directs for the City to prepare urban design guidelines for its Strategic Growth Areas, namely the Central Area and Mixed-Use Corridors. The Mixed-Use Corridors in the Official Plan consist of five major arterial roads: Lansdowne Street, Clonsilla Avenue, Chemong Road, Armour Road and Water Street. The Mixed-Use Corridors are expected to accommodate significant population and employment growth through a compact built form and broad mix of land uses.
The Mixed-Use Corridors Urban Design Guidelines support objectives related to achieving the City’s intensification targets, promoting sustainable development and enhancing quality of life. The guidelines build on the directions and policies in the Council-adopted Central Area Urban Design Guidelines and the City's new Official Plan.
