Background

On April 24, 2023 City Council adopted new urban design guidelines for the Central Area.

The Central Area Urban Design Guidelines provides general recommendations intended to guide development in the Central Area and address built form, streetscape design and sustainability. The Central Area is known as the historic heart of the community and is expected to accommodate significant population and employment growth through a mix of land uses, intensification and redevelopment. The guidelines build on the directions and policies in the new Council-adopted Official Plan and are also informed by the outcomes of a four-day community design charrette held in June 2018 as part of the Official Plan Review.

    The City of Peterborough is hosting an online community information session to present the new Council-adopted urban design guidelines for the Central Area. The Central Area Urban Design Guidelines (CAUDG) build on the directions and policies in the new Official Plan and are also informed by the outcomes of a four-day community design charrette held in June 2018 as part of the Official Plan Update.

    The community information session is from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 through a virtual meeting with opportunities to join online or by phone. To attend the session, please register through Eventbrite: https://PeterboroughCAUDG.eventbrite.ca. The session will include a presentation and is intended to educate the community regarding the content, organization and application of the Guidelines and provide an opportunity for questions.
