2022 Budget Guideline - Notice of Public Meeting

Peterborough, ON - City Council will hold a public meeting starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 to hear from the community on priorities for next year as the City starts to put together its draft 2022 Budget.

The meeting, which will be held online, will start with a presentation on the preliminary 2022 Budget Guideline. The recommendations will go to Finance Committee on July 12 then Council on July 26 for approval. The Budget Guideline provides direction on preparing the City Budget.

The preliminary 2022 Budget Guideline Report is available at peterborough.ca/budget and on the City’s online community engagement hub at https://www.connectptbo.ca/2022budget.

To present to Council during the virtual public meeting on June 23, residents are asked to submit the delegation request form at peterborough.ca/delegation or contact the City Clerk’s Office at 705-742-7777 ext. 1820.

Delegations are given five minutes to present to Council by phone during the meeting.

Council meetings are live streamed online at peterborough.ca/watchcouncil and the video file is posted online following the meeting.

In addition to the formal public meeting being held on June 23, Council held a series of virtual drop-in meetings in March and April as part of the annual Budget Roadshow to hear from the community on priorities for next year’s budget. A summary of the community input from the Budget Roadshow is available in a What We Heard report posted on the City’s online community engagement hub at www.connectptbo.ca/2022budget.

The preliminary 2022 Budget Guideline report includes a recommendation that the Draft 2022 Operating Budget reflect an estimated 2.75% All-Inclusive (Municipal, Education, Sanitary Sewer Surcharge) increase for general Operating Budget impacts and in support of the capital program, including a provision for Stormwater Protection.

The Draft 2022 Budget is expected to be released for public review on November 1, 2021 with final approval scheduled for December 13, 2021.
