What's Happening
The City of Peterborough has developed a plan for the rejuvenation of Riverside Park and East City Bowl, located at 325 Burnham St. in Ashburnham Ward 4. The Landscape Plans for the park represents the vision for the project and identifies the elements provided within the park.
The rejuvenation is required to address areas of deterioration for both the Riverside Park and East City Bowl ball diamonds.
Riverside Park (including East City Bowl) has been designated a Cultural Heritage Landscape under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. The upgrades will be in keeping with the heritage attributes of the park.
Project Update
The project tender for the construction contract is currently under review. The project has been informed by the project objectives, community feedback that has been received and technical expertise.

What we heard
Online Survey
119 people responded to the Riverside Park and East City Bowl Rejuvenation Survey. The survey showed 74 people would drive to the park, 60 would walk/run and 38 would bike. The survey showed a strong support for more tree planting, shade structure and lighting being high priority items. Respondents were able to provide additional comment at the end of the survey, 59 people chose to leave an additional comment that included comments on how much the existing elements of the park and its location and charm are essential to the community, concerns of maintenance of the ball diamonds, the need for upgrades to the lighting and comments about the need for increased security. Comments have been summarized and posted on the project webpage. The concerns noted will be reviewed and addressed by the project team through the design process as the project progresses.

A public information session was held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Peterborough Lions Community Centre. Feedback from this meeting will be included in a summary once the online survey closes.
