People holding up signs saying big idea, brainstorm, think different and be creative.

We're curious about what you want from your Public Library!

In line with our strategic plan, we are conducting a Library Service Review. Over the past two years, we have been focused on increasing our program offerings, improving our Library Services, and making meaningful connections with the Peterborough community. It's time to check-in and see how you think we've been doing, and to find out what you would like to see more of.

Our survey will be open until February 29, 2020. We will also be holding in-person consultations session in early February; times and locations will be listed in the Key Dates area.

All of the feedback gathered throughout this process will be used to create an Action Plan that will help us to continue to grow and to serve the Peterborough community better.

Library staff are currently working on a way to bring back the Interlibrary Loan service. As we now need to use Canada Post to mail items back and forth to other libraries, the service parameters needed to be changed before we could reinstate it. We can't offer it the same way we were before - it would simply be much too expensive and unsustainable.

We are hoping to have the updated version of the service ready to go by the summer of 2020.

Advocacy groups have been lobbying the provincial government for more funding for libraries in general, but for now the costs associated with Interlibrary Loans will need to be absorbed by the individual libraries and in turn the municipalities that fund them.
