We’re excited to announce an important initiative for internal communication for the City of Peterborough to modernize how we share information, connect, collaborate, and access employee resources. After more than 20 years with our current intranet, e-Scape, we’re embarking on a project to implement a new intranet designed to enhance the internal communications space needs of our organization today - and into the future.

We're building on the work that is already underway, being led by the City Clerk's Office and IT, to use Sharepoint as a platform for collaboration and records management.

We plan to launch the intranet later this winter in late February or early March.

Why this change?

Our existing intranet has served us extremely well for more than two decades, but technology and workplace dynamics have evolved significantly. A new intranet will:

  • Enhance usability: Offer a user-friendly interface that makes it easier to find what you need as a City of Peterborough employee, when you need it.
  • Boost collaboration: Integrate tools that foster better communication and teamwork across departments, building on the Sharepoint implementation that is underway throughout the organization.
  • Improve efficiency: Streamline information sharing, reduce duplication, and provide faster access to critical resources.
  • Support mobile access: Enable employees to stay connected whether in the office, working remotely, or in the field.

What to expect

This project will create a digital hub for workplace information, supporting our organization's goals and reflecting how we work together as a team. Over the coming months, we’ll work with you to inform the design, structure and content for the new intranet.

You can expect:

  • Opportunities to share input: Your feedback is essential. Surveys, project participation by key groups such as our People & Culture team and records management leaders, and opportunities to review and provide feedback after the launch of the first phase will be part of the process.
  • Regular updates: We’ll keep you informed as the project progresses over the next couple of months, from design to launch.
  • Training & support: Comprehensive resources to help you navigate the new system with ease, including tips on where to find what you're looking for and ongoing support for content providers.

What’s next?

What features, tools, or resources do you want to see in the new intranet? Please take a few minutes to complete the survey below - use the open comment box fields in the survey to share additional thoughts and suggestions.

We’re eager to build an intranet that truly works for all of us who work at the City of Peterborough.

If you have any questions or thoughts, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our communications team at communications@peterborough.ca.

Thank you for your engagement in making this transition a success!
