The Harper Creek subwatershed is located in southwest Peterborough and contains one of Peterborough’s largest, naturally vegetated and heavily treed areas; Harper Creek Wetland and Harper Park. A Subwatershed Study has been initiated to identify and characterize the water resource system, including the natural heritage features, functions, and cultural values of the Harper Creek subwatershed. The Study will ultimately recommend a land use plan and detailed management strategy to satisfy local and provincial policy direction.

Phase One of the study has been completed. Phase One involved extensive fieldwork to investigate the aquatic systems, terrestrial systems and stream geomorphology. Computer modeling was completed to simulate groundwater conditions, stormwater infrastructure and flooding of Harper Creek.

Phase One results were shared through a virtual Public Open House on January 18, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.
