Background
The City of Peterborough is extending Taxiway B at the Peterborough Regional Airport in 2026 and would like to hear from you.
The Study Design is available for review and comment until January 8, 2026. Opportunities to share ideas, provide comments and ask questions are encouraged throughout this study.
The 2022 Master Plan Update for the Peterborough Regional Airport identified the extension of Taxiway B as a priority to improve safety with ground traffic and runway capacity concerns.
The Airport is regulated by Transport Canada - not by the provincial legislation requirements that typically apply to municipal infrastructure projects. The Airport is undertaking an environmental study. A small portion of wetland is located within the project area, and the Airport is assessing potential environmental impacts to ensure they are properly identified and addressed.
While this project is not subject to the provincial Environmental Assessment Act, the Study Design mirrors the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process that involves engagement with the public, agencies, First Nations, and community partners.
